MOSCOW. July 5 (Interfax) - Brazil has put off the signing of a contract for the acquisition of Pantsyr-S surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery systems due to the shortage of budget resources but plans to conclude the deal at the beginning of 2016, Brazilian ambassador to Russia Antonio Jose Vallim Guerreiro has said in an interview with Interfax.
"According to my knowledge, the acquisition of Russian Pantsyr-S air defense systems is planned for the first half of 2016," he said.
He accounted the delay to the fact that "this year's federal budget does not contain sufficient allocations for paying for the said weapons."
"In any case the general decision on the purchase has been made and a corresponding deal will be concluded," the diplomat added.
